The odds of matching all six numbers drawn to win the jackpot are about 1 in 175 million, according to a prepared statement from the Massachusetts Lottery. The odds of matching the first five numbers drawn to win the game's $1 million second prize are about 1 in 5.1 million.
If there is no winner of Saturday night's jackpot, the top prize will spike to $925 million.
As of 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Bay State retailers had sold more than $7.6 million in Powerball tickets (3,812,066 tickets).
Since the Powerball jackpot started growing March 30, when Powerball had its most recent jackpot winner ($50 million won in Illinois), Massachusetts Lottery retailers have sold more than $29.5 million in Powerball tickets. The sales have raised more than $12.3 million in local aid revenue for the commonwealth's 351 cities and towns, the Lottery reported.
Saturday night's $600 million jackpot is the largest in the Powerball game's history. The previous Powerball jackpot record was $587 million, which was set in November 2012.
Mega Millions' $656 million jackpot from March 2012 holds the world record, the Lottery reported.
