Not As Hot

It's going to be another warm day but not as hot as the record-setting Marathon Monday/Patriots' Day. Boston and Worcester topped off at 87 yesterday afternoon breaking their previous records of 84.

Today will be mostly sunny despite the passage of two weak fronts including one this morning and another tonight. These fronts will provide a wind shift though.  The shifting of the wind to the WNW will occur this morning, but we aren't anticipating much cold air advection to take place. That being said, high temps will remain warm today in the 75-80 range.

Tomorrow will be cooler as the latter cold front will allow for cold air advection to take place. The sun will be shining, but highs will be in the lower 60s while the coast will hover in the 50s.

Temperatures will return to near 70 on Thursday and in the middle 70s on Friday as a warm front presses northward.  The majortiy of the cloud cover and rain appears to stay to the north and west through the end of the week. Rain moves in this weekend.

An upper level ridge breaks down and a cold front moves in Saturday. This will produce some showers and rumbles of thunder. The cold front slows its eastward progression as another wave of low pressure develops along its boundary from the south.  The front will be in conjunction with a 500H trough.

This will keep rain in the forecast on Sunday and again on Monday.

I have chosen to follow the EURO model more closely due to its higher accuracy with the last couple of weeks.  The EURO brings the cold front and the rain in more slowly on Saurday making it a dry morning and allowing rain to move in during the evening.

Consequently, I expect a few showers on Sunday with heavier rain potential on Monday.  Temperature-wise, the EURO will allow for highs to stay in the 60s on Saturday before onshore winds take control on Sunday and Monday.

Because of the onshore winds, Sunday and Monday will have much cooler highs in the 50s.

We hope that you're enjoying your School Vacation Week!
