Piano Delivered To Man Who Went Viral After Performance In Norwood Store
BOSTON (CBS) – After a viral performance this month at a Norwood store, John Capron was rewarded with a free piano delivery at his home on Wednesday.
The mystery musician who stopped shoppers in their tracks was identified after a WBZ segment as John Capron - and now the instrument he was destined to play is home.
"Finally. It's here," Capron said, smiling.
Another day on the job for Deathwish Piano Movers Wednesday, was a wish come true for the Mattapan man; A major upgrade from his past pianos.
The 23-year-old college student is a self-taught pianist. "I had a little piano someone bought me from Toys R Us for my birthday one time," he said.
After ReMarkable Cleanouts gifted John the Steinway, Deathwish Movers stepped up to make the complicated delivery end on a high note. The five-man job first required a crane to lift the piano. Then it was a five-man job getting the nearly 500-pound piano up the fourth-floor stairs.
A giddy John recorded every step on his phone and had the perfect first performance prepared.
"I can't wait to get started and post my first video," he said.
Capron said he plans to share his talent with strangers online.
The first song he plans to post online? That would be "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey.
"It would have to be Journey. It was the very first song I learned. It has to be the first song played on the first piano I ever owned."
