North Attleboro Drug Case Dismissed Under Good Samaritan Law

NORTH ATTLEBORO (CBS) - A good deed has allowed a man to have drug charges against him dropped in a North Attleboro courtroom.

Last November, Brock Lyons and a second man were arrested on five counts of drug possession. North Attleboro Police knew where to find them because they had called 911.

A third person in their car was overdosing on heroin. Lyons and the other man did CPR on the victim until help arrived, saving his life.

On Tuesday, the charges against Lyons were dropped because the state's 911 Good Samaritan Law states a person can call 911 to help someone overdosing without fear of prosecution.

The law does not protect drug dealers, but Lyons was not charged with that crime. He's still behind bars as a fugitive from justice in Florida.
