Man Accused Of Killing Ex-Fiancée In North Andover Held Without Bail
NORTH ANDOVER (CBS) - A man accused of killing his former fiancée in April was held without bail during his arraignment Thursday in Salem Superior Court.
Brian Chevalier, 51, of Merrimack, N.H. pleaded not guilty in the murder of Wendi Davidson, 49, a single mother-of-two who was found dead in the basement of her North Andover home on April 21.
Judge Timothy Feeley ordered Chevalier held without bail. A pre-trial conference was scheduled for Aug. 27.
The Essex County district attorney's office issued Chevalier's warrant for murder in April.
After allegedly killing Davidson, Chevalier fled to Mexico where he was arrested on April 25, according to the DA's office.
He was placed into custody in Imperial County, California. He returned to Massachusetts in the custody of two Massachusetts State Police detectives on Wednesday.
After Thursday's arraignment, the victim's sister, Wendy Ann Mahoney, said in a statement to WBZ-TV that the family is hoping for justice in the case.
"At this time we don't have much to say," Mahoney said. "This was the first step in a very long journey for justice for my beautiful sister Wendi Davidson. We will not stop until he never sees the light of day. We love and miss her so much."
Chevalier is also charged with a parole violation out of New Hampshire and larceny in Massachusetts.
The arrest warrant for murder was issued out of Lawrence District Court.
