No Bail For Suspected Gunman In Murder Of Young Roxbury Store Clerk
BOSTON (CBS) — A Brockton man was ordered held without bail Monday in the murder of a young store clerk in Roxbury last summer.
Elosko Brown, 27, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Roxbury District Court.
He hid behind a door and did not show his face during the proceeding.
Brown was arrested Sunday for the shooting death of Joseph Morante, 19, of Revere.
Morante was shot twice during a botched robbery attempt at iWorld Accessories on Tremont Street in Roxbury in the middle of the afternoon July 31.
Prosecutors say Brown also pointed the gun at Morante's head, but it jammed.
Morante ran out of the store to chase Brown but he collapsed on the street and later died at Boston Medical Center.
He had just graduated from Revere High School and turned 19 only two days before his death.
Brown was arrested with the help of surveillance video from the scene.
Morante's family was in court for Brown's arraignment Monday, but they did not speak to reporters.
