No Bail For Brockton Teen In Murder Of Woman Outside Church
BROCKTON (CBS) – A Brockton teenager was ordered held without bail Monday, charged with shooting and killing a woman who was just leaving church.
Frank Webb, 19, is charged with murder in Saturday's shooting of 51-year-old grandmother Jennifer Rodrigues Teixeira.
"He should get the same thing he gave my mother...death," said Melissa Teixeira, the daughter of 51 year old Jennifer Teixeira.
She was shot twice as she walked out of a Baptist church on Pleasant Street at around 1:30 p.m.
"Witnesses say (Webb) was shooting wildly, and Teixeira was hit in the back," said prosecutor Peter Maguire.
WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports.
Teixeira had been volunteering at the church in a fund-raising effort.
"She was a loving, caring person. She spent all her time caring for her family and the church," said her aunt, Julie Peabody.
Police responded quickly to the shooting, and tracked down Webb, who was free on bail after recently being arrested for selling cocaine. They also found a .45 caliber handgun, who witnesses claim to have seen Webb stash in a bush.
The motive is still not clear. Police don't believe Teixeira was targeted, but they say they don't know if Webb was firing the gun randomly or at someone else.
Her family was furious after the arraignment Monday because Webb did not show his face in court.
