NightSide - Dr. Thomas Burke Joins Dan Rea To Discuss Troubles In The Middle East
BOSTON (CBS) - Christopher Stevens, a US Ambassador to Libya, and three other US embassy staff were killed following two attacks by extremists that lasted almost five hours. The attack happened in Benghazi, Libya at an American consulate. With this story all over the news, some are blaming an anti-Islam film produced out of the US and uploaded onto YouTube that insults the Prophet Muhammad. Others are saying this was a pre-planned attack meant to coincide with the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Dr. Thomas Burke, Chief of the Division of Global Health and Human Rights at Mass General, spoke with Ambassador Stevens hours before the attack, and was scheduled to meet with him just hours after the attack occurred. He joins NightSide to talk with Dan about his experience and feelings on the attack in Libya and its people.
