NH Woman Attacked After Stopping To Help Couple On Side Of The Road
MILFORD, NH (CBS) - Police in Milford, New Hampshire are searching for a couple who pretended to be stranded and tried to carjack a woman on Federal Hill Road. The victim was a good Samaritan who tried to help.
Police say at around 10 am Thursday, the victim pulled over when she saw a black Honda Civic pulled to the side of the road with their lights flashing.
Almost as soon as she got out of the car, the male suspect attacked her. He pulled her to the ground and according to Captain Christopher Nervik, told the victim he was going to steal her car.
"It was just physical struggle," Nervik said. "I think she just pushed and struggled the best she could and was able to get back to her car."
The man continued trying to get into the vehicle.
The victim escaped with only minor injuries. The suspects took off, leaving residents on the quiet country road shaken.
"My heart is racing. It's shocking. It's right at the end of my driveway," said Heather Bierschenk.
Sharon Bouchard cooked dinner Thursday night with the door locked and said she spent the day looking around for a black car that matched the description.
She said the attempted carjacking makes her think twice about helping other drivers.
"I called my daughter and said don't ever stop and help people on the side of the road," Sharon said. "And I'm the first one who would do that, but it's so close to home, I don't think I would ever do that again. Isn't it sad."
The suspects' car is described as a black Civic with Massachusetts plates.
Police are also looking for help identifying the perpetrators. The male is described as white, and between the ages of 20 and 30. He is approximately 5'10" with dark hair. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and a Red Sox baseball cap.
The woman is also white and in her 20's. She is described as petite with long possibly bleached blond hair with a thin braid running down one side.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Milford, NH police.
