NH Sen. Kelly Ayotte 'More Troubled' After Meeting With Ambassador Rice
BOSTON (CBS) -United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice said she had no intention to mislead the American people when she first spoke about the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya.
Rice held a closed-door meeting with Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. and Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H. and acting CIA Director Michael Morell on Capitol Hill Tuesday morning.
The GOP lawmakers continued to target Rice for her September 16 characterization of the attacks in Libya, which resulted in the deaths of four Americans.
Rice told them the talking points she relied on when she said the September attack stemmed from a 'spontaneous protest,' were wrong.
Four people, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and Winchester native Glenn Doherty were killed in the attacks.
New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte said she's not buying it and the meeting did little to ease concerns about her handling of the Benghazi aftermath.
