NH Residents Along Rivers Preparing Ahead Of Next Round Of Rain
PETERBOROUGH, N.H. - More rain is on the way to the area, and that has towns along already swelled rivers preparing for the worst.
In Peterborough, New Hampshire, they're keeping a close eye on ice jams ready to break loose in the Contookook River.
WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson reports.
Residents have already had problems this past weekend, and when the rain hit, it filled up more than a dozen backyards and basements.
Even pumping won't help because there's no where for the water to go.
"They're basically just circulating water out of the river and just moving it out and putting it right back in a again. Hopefully if things dry up next week, they'll be able to actually pump it out and get it into the river," said Chief Joseph Lenox of the Peterborough, New Hampshire Fire Department.
Earlier this week an ice jam gave way in Bath, which is a town about two hours north of Peterborough.
