NH Police: Manchester Man Fired Gun Into Open Car Window
MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) -- Police are investigating what led a 25-year-old Manchester man to walk up to a car and shoot a woman inside.
It happened around 11 p.m. Monday near Somerville and Wilson streets.
The victim told police she and her friend were traveling down the street when they saw a man step out, as if to cross.
When they stopped, the man walked up to the driver's side of the car and pointed a gun into the driver's open window and fired.
A 25-year-old passenger, was struck in the leg.
The driver sped away from the scene and stopped at a convenience store where store employees and customers called police.
Police used a combat tourniquet to control the woman's bleeding. She is expected to make a full recovery.
A short time later, police found Thomas Landry, walking near the scene of the shooting.He originally told police he had been robbed but then became agitated as officers asked questions.
Police arrested Landry and charged him with disorderly conduct, first degree assault, criminal threatening and reckless conduct.
Police say Landry did not know the two women and they are investigation the motive.
Landry's fiance tells WBZ-TV Landy is a former Marine and he may have been suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
