NH Police: Mail Theft Case Connected To Cape Cod ID Thefts
HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — Police in Hampton, N.H., have accused a 21-year-old man from Russia of using the address of a home to receive multiple debit and credit cards in the mail, and they say the case is connected to an identity theft investigation involving mail removed from homes in Cape Cod.
Last month, Hampton police arrested Aleksei Shushliannikov on an attempted theft charge. A homeowner saw him going into his mailbox.
Shushliannikov said he was lost and was looking for an address. Officers became suspicious when they saw a package containing 17 debit and credit cards addressed to the home, but not the homeowner, and a GPS device in Shusliannikov's vehicle.
A search of Shusliannikov's Boston apartment has turned up hundreds of pre-paid debit and credit cards valued at over $100,000.
