NH Mother Of Boy Beaten, Abandoned Denied Visitation Request
BRENTWOOD, N.H. (CBS/AP) — A New Hampshire woman who police say failed to get help for her beaten and burned 3-year-old son asked a judge for visitation rights.
Twenty-three-year-old Jessica Linscott of Plaistow has been held on $100,000 bond since her arrest at a Florida theme park in November on multiple child endangerment counts. Police say she failed to seek medical treatment for her son after he was beaten by her boyfriend — 27-year-old Roland Dow.
On Wednesday, Linscott asked the judge for scheduled visits with her son. The judge denied her request but said Linscott would be allowed to write letters to her son.
Police say Dow struck the boy in the head hard enough to cause traumatic brain injury and burned his wrist and fingers. He pleaded not guilty in December to multiple assault and other charges and remains in custody on $500,000 bail.
Dow and Linscott were on the run for two weeks before being apprehended at Universal Studios.
