NH Man Accused Of Secretly Videotaping Undressed Children

MERRIMACK, N.H. (CBS) --  A New Hampshire man was arraigned Tuesday on charges he secretly videotaped children in various stages of undress.

According to court documents, 52-year-old Thomas Herrmann placed hidden cameras inside his home and recorded minors without their knowledge.

"Anytime that we have egregious crimes like this, it tears at the very fabric of our community," said Merrimack Police Lt. Denise Roy.

Court documents show that Herrmann allegedly used a GoPro camera in the bathroom shower and another in a bedroom.

WBZ has learned that Herrman's wife found the hidden cameras and alerted police.

Detectives then went to his house.

"It was an Apple 27 inch and looking at that computer coming out, was, I said, 'I can't believe in this neighborhood, we have someone like that,'" neighbor Gregory Lambert said.

Neighbors say his wife and two young stepdaughters were living inside.

"We're supposed to safeguard our children," Lt. Roy said. "Parents do everything they can to protect them and when someone is hiding and secretly recording people, and it's very disturbing to all of us."

Herrmann is being charged with six counts of Privacy Violation.

Police still have to perform forensic tests on Herrmann's computers. "It's a likelihood that there will be charges forthcoming," Lt. Roy said.

He is being held on $25,000.00 cash bail. He was ordered to stay away from minors and his wife and stepchildren.
