NH Mailman Arrested For Spanking Boy In Mail Truck

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) - A mailman in Manchester, New Hampshire was arrested Thursday after he allegedly spanked a young boy in his mail truck.

Forty-three-year-old Frank Saucier, of Tyngsboro, Mass., was arrested after 9 a.m. and charged with misdemeanor assault on a child.

Saucier, who works as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, has allegedly let several children into his mail truck to "play house" while inside. During one of the occasions, Saucier allegedly spanked a 10-year-old boy.

Neighboring parents were aware that children have been in and out of Saucier's mail truck since last September and soon became suspicious of his behavior.

Future charges against Saucier are possible.

Saucier is being held on $5,000 bail.

The USPS released a statement about the allegations:

"The Postal Inspection Service does not comment on ongoing investigations; however, what I can say is the U.S. Postal Inspection Service takes these allegations very seriously.  This isolated incident is not representative of the honesty and integrity of postal employees serving our nation today.  The Postal Inspection Service will continue to enforce the laws that protect and prevent the American people from criminal acts.  Even with today's arrest, the individual charged is entitled to a presumption of innocence until he or she has been convicted in a court of law."
