NH Conservation Officers Seek Public's Help Finding Moose Poacher
ERROL, N.H. (CBS) -- New Hampshire conservation officers are seeking the public's help finding the suspect(s) responsible for fatally shooting a moose in Errol.
Investigators believe the poaching occurred sometime around Friday about a 1/4-mile from the end of Smokey Camp Road. The officers received an anonymous tip on Sunday, and they determined that it was a mature bull moose that was killed.
The animal's antlers were removed, but no meat was taken, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Law Enforcement Division and Operation Game Thief's Facebook page. Officers were able to recover some physical evidence from the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to call the New Hampshire Fish and Game Regional Office in Lancaster at (603) 788-3164, or the Operation Game Thief Hotline at 1 (800) 344-4262. Anonymous tips can be left by calling either number.
