Wind Wreaks Havoc, Causing Damage Around Massachusetts
BOSTON (CBS) – Strong wind gusts in the range of 50-to-60 miles an hour created problems across Massachusetts Thursday.
In Duxbury, a tree fell onto a car on Lincoln Street. The 17-year-old driver was taken to South Shore Hospital with only minor injuries.
A large pine tree also came down on Myrtle Street in Duxbury, making the road impassable.
"It's been a busy day for us," said Duxbury Fire Capt. Rob Reardon. "Trees down, wires down, we're seeing it all across town with these high winds."
The wind also caused problems at Logan Airport, impacting some flights in and out of Boston.
Glass panels were ripped by wind from the Brigham and Women's Hospital parking garage on Fenwood Road in Boston. A hospital spokesperson says they fell from the third floor onto a walkway and street below. Fortunately no one was walking by at the time and there are no injuries.

For safety reasons, additional panels were removed. The street was closed so the glass could be safely removed.
In Newton, the wind sent a tree crashing onto a car on Bullough Park and Dexter Road, forcing police to shut down both streets. The car was parked and no one was inside.
Power lines and telephone poles also came down on Bullough Park.
In Cambridge, a modular construction trailer was blown over on Land Boulevard at Binney Street. It's not known if the trailer was parked or being hauled when it tipped over. The impact brought down a light pole. The trailer landed on a fire hydrant. Heavy duty tow trucks were called to upright the trailer.
No one was injured in the incident.
Further west in Hopkinton, the wind pulled down traffic lights at the intersection of South and West Elm streets.
