New Ramp From Mass Pike To Route 128 Opens Friday Evening
WESTON (CBS) -- There are some big changes coming this evening on the Mass Pike in Weston at the on-ramp to Route 128.
All this change started with the removal of the toll booths where the Pike meets 128 in Weston. MassDOT built a brand new on-ramp, and it opens Friday evening. It's for vehicles travelling from the Pike westbound onto 128 north and southbound.
In order to make this change, MassDOT will also close the off-ramp from the Pike onto Park Road and Route 30 for one week.
Acting Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver says this is a major step forward.
"We are pleased to reach this milestone in rebuilding the Weston interchange," Gulliver said. "Drivers should be aware that as of Friday night there will be a new path of travel in certain directions at the Weston interchange and should also be mindful of the detour route as the off-ramp from I-90 westbound to local roadways will be closed for one week."
Starting Friday evening, there'll be a detour in place for drivers wanting to go that route. MassDOT says the detour will be marked with road signs giving drivers the needed directions.
