New Monopoly Board Features Boston's Head Of The Charles Regatta
BOSTON (CBS) – The 50th anniversary of the Head of the Charles Regatta will be commemorated on a new version of the popular board game Monopoly.
The regatta, which takes place in October on the Charles River in Boston, will be represented as a property space on the United States version of Monopoly Here & Now.
Boston received enough votes to become one of 22 U.S. cities to be featured on the Monopoly board, produced by Rhode Island-based Hasbro.
"It is an honor for the Regatta to be the City of Boston's representation on the new Monopoly Here & Now: U.S. Edition game," said Head of the Charles Executive Director Fredrick Schoch. "It showcases the popularity of our city and the significance of the Regatta – a true New England event, as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. We are proud to represent our region on this iconic game."
The Head of the Charles, which is free and open to the public, begins at the Boston University DeWolfe Boathouse and ends at Artesani Park in Brighton.
Spanning Oct. 17 and 18, the regatta attracts more than 11,000 rowers and 400,000 spectators each year.
