NH Trooper Involved In Violent Arrest Expected To Plead Guilty
NASHUA, N.H. (CBS) – A New Hampshire state trooper who was charged following a violent arrest at the end of a high-speed chase is expected to plead guilty this week.
Andrew Monaco was charged with assault following the arrest of Richard Simone, who led police on a one-hour chase from Holden, Massachusetts to Nashua, New Hampshire in May.
Massachusetts State Police Trooper Joseph Flynn was also charged in the incident. Flynn and Monaco were seen on news helicopter video appearing to throw several punches and use their knees to subdue Simone while he was on the ground.
Monaco is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. He is expected to plead guilty to three counts of simple assault for his excessive use of force.
At the time of his initial appearance in court, a September 13 arraignment was scheduled for Monaco.
