Missing hiker found dead after apparent fall on icy New Hampshire mountain
LINCOLN, N.H. – A 44-year-old man died Friday after an apparent fall while hiking in an icy area of the White Mountains in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire Fish and Game was alerted to the missing hiker, later identified as Christopher Huyler.
Huyler had left for a hike earlier in the day in the middle of Cannon Ball through the Coppermine Brook Valley to check conditions prior to ski season, Fish and Game said.
At 4 p.m., Huyler told a family member he was on his way back out. When he did not return, the family member called for help.
Huyler's car was found in Franconia, and a search began.
Missing hiker found dead
Crews headed onto the mountain around 9 p.m. According to Fish and Game, the search area was mostly off trail and required bushwhacking through thick vegetation.
Around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Huyler's body was found at about 2,800 feet elevation.
Additional search and rescue team members were called in, with a total of 21 people taking part in the recovery.
It took crews until around 9 a.m. on Saturday to carry the hiker about 3.2 miles off the mountain.
"It was apparent the man had suffered a significant fall in icy terrain. He was wearing micro spikes and was well equipped with equipment for a hike," Fish and Game said in a statement.
An autopsy is planned to determined Hyler's cause of death.
