New Hampshire Voters Anxious To Weigh In On Contentious Election
MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – Election Day has finally arrived, and voters in the Granite State are anxious to have their say.
The contentious feeling of the race lingered in the air as voters cast their ballots in New Hampshire on Tuesday.
Krystal Muccioli went to the ballot box in Manchester to support Republican nominee Donald Trump.
"I absolutely voted for Trump because I don't want a criminal for president," Muccioli said.
Amanda Egan, meanwhile, is voting Democrat Hillary Clinton.
"If I wanted to vote for a toddler, I would've voted for my daughter," Egan said when explaining why she opted not to choose Trump.
Both Clinton and Trump paid visits to the Granite State in the days leading up to the election, hoping to sway voters.
The race in New Hampshire is a close one.
"I'm voting for Trump today because national security is important to us," one voter told WBZ-TV.
A different voter added "I voted for Hillary Clinton. I thought she was the most qualified."
Another close race in New Hampshire is the fight for a seat in the U.S. Senate. The outcome between Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte and Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan could swing the balance of power in Washington.
