New Hampshire City Named 'Best Small Town' In America
LEBANON, N.H. (CBS) -- A community in New Hampshire is the "Best Small Town" in America, according to a new ranking.
Livability.com says it looked at more than 12,000 towns with populations between 1,000 and 20,000 to come up with its ranking of the Top 100 Best Small Towns, led by Lebanon, New Hampshire. Eight other New England towns and small cities also made the list.
Lebanon has a population of 13,367. The website says the town is so desirable because it's near Dartmouth College, has engaged residents, highly-rated schools and "the small-town, everybody-knows-your-name vibe that many crave."
"Lebanon is more than just a pretty place to visit," Livability said. "Not many other cities this size can boast a diversified economy with a range of headquarters in everything from aerospace to biotech to ski equipment."
Vermont leads New England states with four communities on the list: Montpelier, Middlebury, Brattleboro and Essex Junction.
