New Englanders Spot Majestic Northern Lights

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (CBS) --  Residents in certain parts of the region saw a majestic light show in the sky Sunday night.

A geomagnetic storm brought sightings of the Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as the Northern Lights.

The Mount Washington Observatory in New Hampshire reported a sighting at 8 p.m., and captured the colorful glow.

Clouds are partially blocking our view but Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are still active as of 11 pm EST tonight....

They could also be seen in Maine and as far south as Massachusetts.

You're more likely to spot the colorful night sky looking north along the horizon and away from the city lights.
