New England Revolution Back In Playoffs For First Time Since 2009
BOSTON (CBS) - The New England Revolution are back in the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time in four seasons.
The Revolution clinched their spot with a 1-0 win against the Columbus Crew on Sunday afternoon. The win, coupled with results around the league, rocketed the Revs up the Eastern Conference Standings into the number-3 seed for the playoffs.

They will take on Sporting Kansas City in the Eastern Conference Semifinal Series, with Game 1 set for Saturday, November 2 at Gillette Stadium at 8 p.m..
New England has found their groove at the right time, as they're one of the hottest teams in the league entering the postseason. The Revolution went 4-0-2 in their final six games and closed the 2013 regular season with a 14-11-10 mark -- their first winning season since 2009.

Sunday's shutout victory gave goaltender Matt Reis an undefeated season, with the veteran going 7-0-4 in net. He becomes the first goalkeeper in MLS history to go undefeated after playing 10 or more games, and his 0.72 goals against average was not just a career-best but the MLS' best mark this season. Sunday was New England's 14th shutout of the season, a new team record.
The Revs are returning to the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2009 – head coach Jay Heaps' final season as a Revs player.
