New charges for alleged JP shooter
A Massachusetts parolee who has pleaded not guilty to killing a convenience store clerk from Nepal was ordered held on $4 million cash bail for allegedly plotting the murders of his wife and two other witnesses in his case.
Edward Corliss pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Suffolk Superior Court to four counts of witness intimidation.
Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley said the 64-year-old tried to convince another inmate to kill the three people who had given information about him to police.
Corliss is held without bail on murder and robbery charges stemming from the Dec. 26 shooting death of Surendra Dangol. Corliss was paroled in 2006 after serving prison time for the 1971 slaying of a Salisbury store clerk.
His attorney, John Hayes, did not immediately return phone calls.
The case returns to court Sept. 9.
