On Tuesday, Walsh's first full day in office, he appointed Democratic state Rep. Eugene O'Flaherty to serve as the city's top lawyer, a position known as corporation counsel.
O'Flaherty has been the House chair of the Legislature's Judiciary Committee since 2002.
Walsh also named Joyce Linehan as chief of policy. A Dorchester resident who heads a Boston public relations company, Linehan was policy director for Walsh's mayoral campaign and also worked on the political campaigns of Gov. Deval Patrick and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
Walsh's other appointments Tuesday included Alejandra St. Guillen, head of the Latino community organizing group Oiste, who will serve as interim director of the Office of New Bostonians.
