New Bedford Native Killed In Crash Day After Wedding
CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (CBS/AP) — A memorial service was held Saturday for a newly married New Bedford native who was killed in a crash the day after his wedding.
Jordan Costa, 21, moved to the Detroit-area 18 months ago and became a youth minister.
He and his wife were en route to their honeymoon in Myrtle Beach, S.C. May 19 when their SUV hit an embankment and rolled over several times in eastern Ohio.
Costa died. His wife, Heather Favazza-Costa, 21, suffered minor injuries.
The Costas were married May 18 at Connection Church in Canton Township, Mich., where both were involved in the youth ministry and she was a lifelong member.
The memorial service was held there Saturday.
Costa took speech classes to get rid of his thick New England accent to broaden his appeal to prospective church members, friends told The Detroit News.
