Dive teams were called to Eastern Fisheries on Hassey Street around 7:30 a.m. for reports of a man trapped under the ice.

He was pulled out about two hours later.  His name has not been released.  He is said to be 47 years old.

WBZ-TV's Sera Congi reports

New Bedford police say they discovered what happened after viewing surveillance video from the area where the Gloucester-based vessel "Sunlight"  was docked.

Two fishermen on the boat went out Thursday night.  One returned early and had no idea his partner was missing until he found him in the water Friday morning.

Police checked the surveillance video which showed the fisherman slipping on the ice, off the dock and into the water.

Investigators say the water was so cold he likely became unconsious about two minutes after falling in.
