Neil Armstrong's 'One Small Step' Note Among Auction Items In NH
AMHERST, N.H. (AP) — Handwritten notes by Neil Armstrong, including the words "one small step," are among over 600 items of space and aviation memorabilia being offered by a New Hampshire auction house.
The notes in pencil, among the iconic words Armstrong spoke when he became the first man to walk on the moon, are part of documents and photos he kept from the Apollo 11 mission. They are estimated to fetch at least $3,000 at the auction, which starts Nov. 21. Armstrong died in August at age 82.
Also available — and estimated to fetch about $250,000 — is an Apollo 15 spiral-bound, 20-page checklist worn by mission commander David Scott in 1971. Bobby Livingston, a vice president of RR Auction in Amherst, said Monday that such checklists are rarely offered for sale.
