Neely on Felger & Mazz: Seventh Place Was Wake-Up Call
Boston Bruins President Cam Neely joined Tony Massarotti and Damon Amendolara to talk some Boston Bruins on Tuesday afternoon.
While the team's inconsistency over the past few months, they've seemingly turned things around with two straight wins over the Flyers and Maple Leafs.
Neely said that a team like Philly that has a physical edge helps the Bruins bring their very best from the first drop of the puck.
"Just the makeup of their team and the makeup of our team, you know it's going to be a physical game," Neely said of the Flyers. "When we engage and when we initiate, we're a better team. You can't wait to see what they're gonna bring, because you know they're going to bring a physical element to the game. It's good for our players and our guys to be mentally prepared for that."
Neely also said that while the Bruins knew they were heading in a bad direction, the reality of seeing themselves in seventh place last weekend was a big wake-up call.
"We wake up one day and we're int he seventh seed," he said. "Actually seeing yourself drop like that, I think it's a wake-up call."
Neely also discusses the team's plans with Tim Thomas, Rich Peverley, Nathan Horton and even the line brawl that took place the beginning of Monday night's Rangers-Devils game.
