Neely: No Good Would Come From Coaching Change
BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Bruins President Cam Neely joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Felger and Massarotti Tuesday afternoon and said nothing good would come from the Bruins changing coaches so late in the season.
"I don't think there's anything good coming from that with 11 games (now 10) left in the season," Neely said before the team's 4-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils. "We have a staff in place that put a system together that when the guys are working hard and focus on the things we do well, we play good hockey."

After winning seven straight, the Bruins had won just one of their last seven before Tuesday night's win. Boston currently owns a three-point lead over the Montreal Canadiens in the Northeast Division. The Bruins and Canadiens play in Boston Thursday night.
"I think it's up to the guys in the locker room, from the players to the coaching staff, to compete the way we have to compete," Neely added. "I think the coaches are, quiet frankly, getting the players ready and prepare. I don't think that's an issue."

In April 2007, current Bruins coach Claude Julien was fired by the New Jersey Devils with just two weeks left before the playoffs. Julien had coached the Devils to a 47-24-8 mark (tied for second in the Eastern Conference) but was fired by General Manager Lou Lamoriello because he did not feel Julien would have the players ready mentally and physically for a Stanley Cup run.
