NBA Legend, Former Celtic Wilkins Attacked By Ex-Ref
ATLANTA (AP) -- Police say a former NBA referee is charged with attacking Hall of Famer and Atlanta Hawks television analyst Dominique Wilkins in a dispute over a clothing bill.
Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos says 36-year-old Rashan S. Michel was released early Thursday on $1,000 cash bond after being charged with two counts of simple battery.
Campos says Michel confronted the former NBA star while he was doing a live broadcast after Atlanta's 85-82 win over Orlando.
Wilkins stepped away from his seat on press row and was attacked by Michel, who claims Wilkins owes him between $15,000 and $17,000 for suits.
Wilkins was injured. A police booking photo shows Michel with a large welt under his left eye.
