Nathan Horton Won't Travel With Bruins To Philadelphia
WILMINGTON (CBS) -- Bruins head coach Claude Julien still won't say exactly what is ailing forward Nathan Horton, but whatever it is, it's enough to keep him out of action for two straight games.
The Bruins forward suffered an undisclosed injury after fighting Jarome Iginla late in the first period on Saturday, and Julien said Monday that Horton will not travel with the team for Tuesday night's game in Philadelphia.
"Horton is still day-to-day. He's not going to make the trip," Julien said. "We've got some extra players so we're going to take the time to make sure he is 100 percent."
Missing two straight games at this point of the schedule does not necessarily indicate Horton's injury is serious, though. With the Bruins being forced to squeeze two postponed games into the final week of the season, they're in the midst of playing six games in nine days. They lost Saturday and won Sunday, but with games coming up on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, giving Horton extra rest with the plan of bringing him back to spell other tired players later in the week works out for Boston.
Julien also updated the status of Adam McQuaid, who missed Sunday's game after taking a low hit from Matt Cooke on Saturday. McQuaid is "good," according to the coach, and will travel to Philadelphia.
