Narragansett Beer Co. Planning Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout
BOSTON (CBS) - Narragansett Beer Company is tapping into an only-in-Rhode Island ingredient with a local cult following for its latest brew.
The brewery announced on Friday that it's planning to put out an Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout in early December. The brew is a traditional stout infused with Autocrat coffee syrup.
Coffee syrup was first marketed in the 1890s in Rhode Island.
It consists of water and sugar strained through coffee grounds.
The syrup is used in Rhode Island specialties like coffee milk and coffee cabinets. Coffee milk is Rhode Island's official state drink, but is rarely found outside of the state or surrounding areas.
No word on whether the beer will be marketed outside of Rhode Island.
