N.H.'s Week-Long Turkey Shotgun Hunting Season Starts Monday
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Turkey hunters are checking their shotguns as New Hampshire's five-day fall shotgun season arrives.
The season begins Monday and runs through Friday in most of the state's wildlife management units.
Hunters must be licensed and are limited to one turkey.
New Hampshire Fish and Game wildlife experts urge hunters to be extremely selective in deciding when to shoot, so as not to hit more than one of the birds that tend to gather in groups.
They also caution hunters not to pursue flocks visible from public roadways, for reasons of safety and fair-chase.
The fall archery season for hunting turkeys runs from Sept. 15 through Dec. 15. Bow hunters also are restricted to a one-bird limit.
Hunters bagged a total of 643 turkeys last year.
