Museum Of Science Offers "Fun" Tours Outside
BOSTON (AP) - Now you don't have to go inside Boston's Museum of Science for an educational experience.
The museum on Friday started offering outdoor tours of the parks, open areas and surrounding neighborhoods using Segways, the two-wheeled personal transporters that defy the laws of balance.
Museum vice president of education Paul Fontaine says he has long wanted to expand the museum's offerings to the outdoors.
The area is home to many native plants and animals, unique architecture and right down the street in Cambridge, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The 90-minute tour starts with a half-hour course on the safe operation of the Segways, decorated with bright red fenders and the museum's logo on the wheels.
Organizers say the goal is not just to learn, but also have fun.
