Murray, Kerry and Tsongas listened to Air Force personnel explain the role that programs and missions developed at Hanscom Air Force Base play in keeping our country safe.
Murray said the goal of the tour was to keep Massachusetts military bases open.
"We know that we've got a tough challenge ahead, there's going to be contraction within a defensive budget," said Murray. "We want to just know what we can do to maximize some of the strategic strengths we've got in Massachusetts and the tour and the conversations are about how we do that."
Murray has formed a task force to unify support for military jobs in an effort to keep the state's bases off the federal chopping block.
