Man Charged With Murder In Fatal Beverly Shooting Held Without Bail
SALEM (CBS) -- A 19-year-old man charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old Florida man in Beverly was ordered held without bail Monday at his arraignment in Salem District Court.
Justice Galarza, of Beverly, is accused of shooting to death Miami resident Christian Merced around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on Ropes Street.
Investigators say Merced was visiting family in the area prior to being shot in the chest. He was rushed to Beverly Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Galarza fled the scene, and he later turned himself in to Salem police.
He has also been charged with carrying a firearm without an FID card and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
His next court date is slated for May 10.
