MSPCA: Emaciated Dog Left For Dead At Springfield Construction Site
BOSTON (CBS) --- MSPCA officials are investigating a case of what they are calling "terrible animal cruelty."
On Tuesday, an emaciated poodle-mix was found wrapped in a plastic shopping bag at the bottom of a pit at a Springfield construction site.
The dog was rushed to Dakin Humane Society in Springfield where she is slowly recovering.
The MSPCA says tests show the dog, now named "Buffy" is anemic, which could be a result of neglect.
MSPCA's law enforcement department says the pit Buffy was found in, was dug for the foundation of a new house. It was scheduled to be filled in, which would have killed Buffy and prevented her body from being found.
Officials are going door-to-door in the neighborhood trying to find anyone that may have any information.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the MSPCA at 1-800-628-5808.
Buffy will be available for adoption in the next few days.
