Missing Canadian Hiker Found Dead On Mount Washington
MOUNT WASHINGTON, N.H. (CBS) -- A Canadian man who was reported missing earlier this month after he did not return from hiking Mt. Washington was found dead Saturday, the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department said.
Francois Carrier, 47, of Drummondville, Quebec was first reported missing on May 12. The N.H. Fish & Game Department said there had been reports that Carrier was seen May 9 around the Pinkham Notch area. That area was searched with dogs and helicopters for five days with no results.
On Saturday afternoon, Carrier's body was found off a trail near Tuckerman's Ravine at an altitude of 5,300 feet.
The N.H. Fish & Game Dept. said his body would be taken to Concord, N.H. for an autopsy.
