Motorist Killed, Two Others Injured In Mansfield Crash on Interstate 495
MANSFIELD (CBS) -- A motorist was killed and two others were injured Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 495, the state police reported in a prepared statement.
At about 6:20 p.m., state police troopers and Mansfield firefighters were dispatched to the crash scene near Exit 13 on the northbound side of I-495. Several 911 callers had reported a vehicle had left the roadway and careened into a wooded area, the state police said.
When members of the Mansfield Fire Department arrived, they requested a medical helicopter for one of the injured motorists, who was flown to Brigham and Women's Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Two other motorists were taken to Sturdy Hospital in Attleboro. One of the injured motorists taken to Sturdy Hospital died, the state police said. The other injured motorist taken to Sturdy Hospital was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
State police did not release the names or personal information of the motorists involved in the crash pending notification of family members.
State police troopers including the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services are investigating the crash.
