Mother On Crusade To Find Daughter's Killer Visits Boston Area
CAMBRIDGE (CBS) - In her pink Cube, Maggie Zingman made quite an entrance into Harvard Square, but it was no joyride for the mother from Oklahoma.
The 'Caravan to Catch a Killer' was born out of frustration. Her daughter Brittany was raped and suffocated in her Oklahoma apartment more than seven years ago. The case remains unsolved and Zingman has logged 62,000 miles on her own crusade.
"It's such a horrible loss, it never goes away," says Zingman. "I have to keep trying."
Wednesday night she handed out pamphlets to any stranger who would listen. Some simply walked by the peculiar vehicle with pictures of Brittany on it while others stopped to study it.
She says, "In murders like this that go unsolved, a lot of the time it's somebody who moves around, somebody seeking victims in different places."
The reason seems clear enough, but Zingman is also out to change laws that in some states limit DNA samples which she believes have hindered her case.
"Like a lot of people I thought this was like CSI and we'd find her killer," she says. "I can't believe it's been seven and a half years."
Her car helps tell the story, but Zingman attracts enough attention herself, and she has no intention of stopping.
"How do you know where he's gone? You have to cover as much area as you can."
