Mostly Rain But a Little Ice...

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving it was a pleasant day...cold the way it should be and calm...when there isn't much wind it makes all the difference!

We have a pretty active front/occlusion on the way late tonight and tomorrow morning.  Surface temps are above freezing except in some sheltered locals and the distant interior.  But the air  is very dry...dew points are still in the single digits...so evaporational cooling will play a big role at the onset of the light precip after midnight.  This will lead to pockets of below freezing surface temps and even below freezing midlevel temps and thus at the start a wintry mix of cold rain, sleet, snow and freezing rain.  I don't expect any roads in and around Boston to be anything but wet but out near the 495 loop and beyond there will likely be a few slick spots.  But mostly be careful on the back deck or the front stairs and grassy areas...that is where a light glaze or a little crust of snow and sleet will accumulate making it a little slippery.  For the rest of us, the rain will end mid to late morning and drier air with a little sun will punch in.

Over the weekend expect seasonably cold, dry but windy conditions...good for traveling.
