Most Haunted Places In Boston
The cobblestones still evident in parts of the city, the centuries-old buildings crouching amid skyscrapers and the long history of Boston; Massachusetts certainly create the right atmosphere for a good old-fashioned haunting. If the stories are to be believed, the city is more than just a quaint backdrop for ghost stories. There really are ghosts haunting visitors and residents of the city. In fact, stories of hauntings occur virtually all over Boston. Here are a handful of those haunted spots.

Rumor has it that the ghosts of a hotel fire that occurred on the grounds where the Mass Avenue dorms currently stand at Berklee College of Music haunt the students that live there. The supposed haunting takes the form of ghosts of sorts being seen roaming the halls of the dorms. Some even reportedly live in the rooms of the students. Only the students who have seen these ghosts know what forms they take, but that the housing unit is said to be haunted is no secret.

Everett Square Theatre

The Everett Square Theatre has quite a reputation. To be fair, most of it is likely false. Nonetheless, this currently hopeful, though long left derelict building omits its fair share of spooky. There is one rumor circulating around the net, though thankfully bereft of authoritative sources, that says a group of theatergoers was massacred on the balcony. More tame stores say that there are sounds, flickering lights and the feeling of presences in the theater.
Pilot House

Built in 1839, the Pilot House has long stood on Boston Harbor, serving as a place to sleep for ship's captains and the like. When people go there today, they can hear the sounds of doors slamming and a drunken card game that ended years and years ago. However, the most vivid companion awaiting visitors is a woman in white who haunts the kitchen as if waiting for a hungry sailor to come looking for a hot meal.

The Green Line

When it comes to hauntings on the T's Green Line at Boylston Street, there is actually more than one story. One explanation for the reported ghost sightings, train malfunctions and other weirdness is that a mass grave for British casualties of the American Revolution was uncovered when the line was being constructed. The other explanation comes from before the station at Boylston was operating. On March 4, 1897, a natural gas explosion near Tremont killed six people while dozens sustained injuries. The ghosts of the dead are said to haunt the train line.

Shelton Hall of Boston University was a hotel before it was a dormitory. This hotel was home to Eugene O'Neill, a playwright with considerable talent and fame. Unfortunately, he was also ill from a rare neurological condition, and he died during his stay there. He died in Room 401. Today, hopeful writers live in the "Writer's Corridor" on the same floor where O'Neill died. These students are getting much in the way of inspiration, if they want to write ghost stories.
