Mosquitoes In Bridgewater Test Positive For EEE
BRIDGEWATER (CBS) – Mosquitoes in Bridgewater has tested positive for the Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus.
It's the first time this year that the disease, which can be deadly in humans, has been detected in Massachusetts.
According to the state Department of Health, the mosquito sample was collected on July 19.
EEE is usually spread to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito.
So far this year, there have been no human cases of reported West Nile Virus or EEE in Massachusetts.
