More Mixed Drinks At Fenway? Proposal Closer To Reality After Vote

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Licensing Board gave their approval Thursday for the Red Sox to expand their sale of hard liquor at Fenway Park.

The city licensing board vote was 2-0, but the approval is probationary with the board revisiting the proposal in late June.

It also requires the conditions outlined in a deal reached with the mayor's office. Hard liquor will be sold only in mixed drinks, one ounce at a time, at five spots around Fenway. Sales of the mixed drinks would stop two hours after the game began, after the bottom of the seventh inning, or at police request.

The Sox already serve hard liquor in luxury suites, so fans can get still get mixed drinks at isolated locations on Opening Day.

Before the Sox can begin new hard liquor sales, they must get state approval, which could take four weeks.
