More Great Bars Along The Boston Marathon Route
Read: Best Bars Along The Marathon Route
But wait, all five bars on the list are still some of the best spots along the marathon route. So instead of revamping the list, we'll let it stand, and just add to it with More Great Bars Along The Boston Marathon Route.
Publick House
1648 Beacon St
Brookline, MA 02446

With outbound traffic and the MBTA Green Line between the bar and the route, the view isn't the best, but the bar's renowned beer list more than makes up for this. Just after mile 23, the Publick House sits on a somewhat-less-busy stretch of Beacon Street between the crowd-packed Cleveland Circle and Kenmore Squre.
Audubon Circle
838 Beacon St
Boston, MA 02215

Along the same stretch, and right before Mile 25 on Beacon Street, but far enough away from a mobbed Kenmore Square, Audubon Circle could be considered the 'laid back' option. The bar's front window looks out at the passing runners. The nicely balanced cocktail and beer lists aren't too overwhelming, but they are going to have something for everyone.
In Kenmore Square
Lower Depths
476 Commonwealth Ave
Boston, MA 02215

CASH ONLY!!! Combine the fact that it's less than a mile from the finish line, and there's a Red Sox game going on, and you'll understand why Kenmore Square is hopping on Marathon Monday. Tucked away in the lower depths of Kenmore Square is a beer bar appropriately named Lower Depths. Because it's below street level, the view can be tricky. You'll have either sneak outside for a peak or look between the legs of the folks standing on the sidewalk.
Island Creek Oyster Bar
500 Commonwealth Ave
Boston, MA 02215
(617) 532-5300

While running a grueling 26.2 miles is probably rewarding for some people, others would rather be rewarding their stomachs with a delightful delicacy. Why not nosh on oysters and sip some wine as the determined runners zip past the front window?
Near the Finish Line
M Bar @ The Mandarin
776 Boylston St
Boston, MA 02116
(617) 535-8800

M Bar is situated along the homestretch of the Boston Marathon route. But here, you aren't going to watch the Marathon so much as you're going to be seen. M Bar sits inside the swank Mandarin Hotel. If you're looking for a day of drinking cheap beer in ripped jeans and a t-shirt, this is probably not your stop.
Pour House
907 Boylston St #21
Boston, MA 02115
(617) 236-1767

Cheap brews and good views are all anyone could ask for. The Pour House sits on the home stretch of the marathon, and serves cheap beer, so expect it to be PACKED with patrons on Marathon Monday.
Charlesmark Hotel Bar and Lounge
655 Boylston St
Boston, MA 02116
(617) 247-1212

Part of the Boston Marathon experience is taking in the sights AND sounds of the day. The Charlesmark sits about 20 feet past the finish line. The sights may be obstructed by the media tower, but the sounds are amazing. There's no cover charge. Keep in mind, this place is almost impossible to get into as a patron or as a runner. But if you plan way ahead, you can probably make it happen.
Jefferson from the Charlesmark sums it up best: "The energy is high, the beers and martinis frosty cold, and the buzz of Boylston Street spills through our patio doors."
