Monson Declares State Of Emergency After Heavy Rain
MONSON (CBS) – The western Massachusetts town of Monson declared a state of emergency after torrential rains swept through on Sunday.
Storms dumped more than three inches of rain in less than three hours Sunday morning.
The rain caused significant street flooding and some minor damage to some roads.
A couple of roads suffered significant damage and were deemed impassable, according to WSHM in Springfield.
Highway Department crews and outside contractors had been called in to assess and repair the damage.
Monson was one of the hardest hit communities last year when tornadoes swept through western and central parts of the state.
